AFFINILUTE¢â MIP - Chloramphenicol
Selective SPE sorbent optimised for extraction of the banned antibiotic Chloramphenicol in biological matrices
Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic frequently employed in animal and fish production in certain parts of the world because of its excellent antibacterial and pharmacokinetic properties. Due to the suspicion that chloramphenicol is carcinogenic and that it can cause aplastic anaemia in humans its use in food production was banned in the EU in 1994. Today, a zero tolerance level for food exists since maximum tolerance levels cannot be established for compounds with this level of toxicity.
Use of AFFINILUTE MIP – Chloramphenicol allows for residues of chloramphenicol to be extracted efficiently and rapidly. Furthermore, detection limits well below the minimum required performance limit (MRPL) for chloramphenicol are achieved, enhancing the reliability of detection and ensuring improved food safety and quality.
Features and Applications AFFINILUTE MIP - Chloramphenicol selectively extracts the broad spectrum antibiotic Chloramphenicol from biological matrices with high and reproducible recoveries (over 80% from milk), allowing sharp detection limits. The estimated detection limit of 0.01 µg/kg is well below the minimum required performance limit (MRPL) for chloramphenicol, which is set at 0.3 µg/kg. The product is delivered with a data sheet optimized for extraction of chloramphenicol from milk, honey and urine samples, with MS detection. Skimmed milk can be loaded directly on the column. The robust and highly selective AFFINILUTE MIP - Chloramphenicol is suited for use in high-throughput automated systems.
